Background
The Delegation of German Chamber of Industry and Commerce (AHK) is the central actor for German foreign trade promotion on behalf of the Federal Republic of Germany in Myanmar and is part of the German chamber network abroad with 104 offices in 92 countries. AHK represents the interests of German enterprises and supports bilateral trade relations and liaises with local institutions, agencies, and associations. Our office in Myanmar provides a wide range of services to support trade and business activities and advice on market entry. The Delegation cooperates closely with the German Myanmar Business Chamber.
Job Description
The position offers an excellent opportunity to work with multinational and local companies and institutions in a very dynamic business environment. The successful candidate will be interested in supporting trade and investment in Myanmar by providing consultation on market development, business and trade policies, and government regulations. The candidate will be an effective researcher and writer and possess strong communication and organizational skills. The position requires a candidate with excellent English skills as well as the ability to manage multiple responsibilities with a strong sense of ownership and customer orientation. We are seeking a senior consultant to join our team in Yangon on a full-time basis.
Core Responsibilities
The Project Manager/ Market Entry Consultant will oversee public and private projects in Myanmar, Cambodia, and Laos.
- Responsibilities for the projects from meeting customers, understanding customer needs, preparing quotations, performing project analysis according to customer requirements, following-up until closing projects.
- Responsibility for researching, drafting, editing, and proofreading market studies.
- Networking, communication with public entities, associations and companies regarding meetings, project support… to establishing contacts for foreign clients with local partners.
- Set up and execution of events such as B2B Matchmaking, Workshops, Conference for larger audiences.
- Supporting delegations from Germany to local markets and the vice versa e.g., preparing programs, accompanying, etc.
- Extensive, self-guided communication about project progression with foreign, mostly German, clients.
- Report to: Head of Economic Affairs and Trade Relations at AHK Myanmar and Regional Management Team at AHK Vietnam
Qualification, Experience and Skills
- Bachelor's degree in economy, business administration, or a related field.
- At least 3-5 years as a project manager and related experience.
- Working experience at international organizations and business support organizations or NGO.
- Strong English written and verbal communication skills compulsory.
- Knowledge of German: not compulsory but a strong asset.
- Motivated and willing to learn.
- Capable of both independent work and collaboration within a team.
- Strong business knowledge and experience interpreting data.
- Proficiency in all Microsoft Office applications.
- The ability to travel as needed.
- High attention to detail.
